Originally released in 2017, I recently found myself revisiting "Home" in a way I never imagined. This melody, one of my personal favorites, had lingered in the back of my mind all these years. I had always heard it in a certain way in my head, but I had never quite captured it fully—until now.
Bringing "Home" back into the studio was a cathartic experience. It felt like I was reconnecting with an old friend, but this time, I had the skills and the freedom to bring it to life the way I had always envisioned. The entire process of re-recording has been a labor of love—one that allowed me to honor the original memories tied to this tune while giving it a fresh, modern sound.
The excitement I feel for this release is hard to put into words. It’s not just about putting out a song; it’s about sharing a deeply personal piece of my history with the world. "Home" represents where I’ve been, but also where I’m going. Many of you might not know this, but I love to write: lyrics (though I no longer sing), poetry, and general "articles of thought." It's soothing and gets much of the garbage out of my head that continually swims around seeking an escape. Usually, when life events occur, you'll find me at my desk writing and most of the time, these journeys into prose never see the light of day and are forever archived on the multiple flash-drives and various cloud services that suck up most of our intellectual property these days. "If I Never Love Again" was a poem that I wrote in September 2017 and forgot about it for three years to the two moves through two states. Recently the poem appeared out of nowhere as if it had something to say. I decided that it should stay archived and filed it away never to be given a second thought. But like most of my tunes, it nagged at me and eventually demanded to be given attention. For me, songs have their own lives and as organic "beings," I'm a slave to their development on their terms. "If I Never Love Again" kept me up at night fighting with me for development for almost four months. The tune is about gaining and losing love and learning to recognize that the memories of love are comforting and are stored deep in my soul and always in my heart. I'm lucky to have loved at all and that, my friends, is much more important than worrying about getting another opportunity.
